Every year Irish Light hold a Landscape Photography Competition and the following images below were my submitted images for 2017. The competition allowed each participant to submit up to three photos and there featured a amateur category for non-professional photographers.

Image 1 - The Stack at The Cliffs of Moher, Co. Clare
Lens: Nikkor 50mm f1.4, Aperture: f1.8, Shutter-speed: 1/5000s
The photo was taken during a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare in April of 2017. The 50mm lens was chosen to take advantage of the fast aperture, blurring out the foreground to focus on the stack. A very fast shutter-speed was also used to freeze the power of the water crashing and the birds flying.

Image 2 - The Cliffs of Moher, Co. Clare
Lens: Nikkor 18 - 105mm f3.5, Aperture: f8, Shutter-speed: 1/500s
This photo was also take on the same day as the photograph above. It was my first time ever visiting the cliffs so I was blown away by the different layers of rock in the cliffs along with the visible deposits of iron(orange) and copper(green) minerals.

Image 3 - Garnish Island, Co. Cork
Lens: Nikkor 18 - 105mm f3.5 (Length:50mm), Aperture: f5, Shutter-speed: 1/250s
The third photo was taken from a cliff on Garnish Island over-looking Glengarriff Bay in County Cork. The photo had been taken in August of the previous year (2016) but photo submissions of up to two years old from the date they're shot are permitted.
